Mall Crawl

What do two young females do when they get bored? Go to the mall and shop of course!
The other day, my friend Stacy and I went to the mall to look at clothes, for our trip to Nashville! I was looking for just some nice summer clothes and a cute pair of sunglasses, but we stumbled upon much, much more!

For example, shoes! As my family can attest I love SHOES! In my opinion, one girl can never have too many shoes! I didn't buy any of these but we both thought they were outrageous.
Here are some of these crazy shoes! (Sorry for the blurry photos.)

Next, we wanted to look at accessories! What girl doesn't love to accessorize?

(I feel Asian in this picture)

 (Love this girl!)

Yes, that is a swimsuit with the solar system on it!

The last thing we looked at was signs. You know the funny sayings and quotes here is what we found.

This last one describes Stacy and I perfectly!
Since, Stacy is an artist, we had to spend some of the night doing an artisty thing! Her creation from chalk to this..

Look for our next adventure to Cabela's! It will be a terrific excursion!

Being Single

Remember those Disney movies we watched as kids? The movies about the princess looking for Mr. Right? Or the movies about stumbling upon your future husband? Nowadays, we feel so much pressure from the media, friends or family to find our perfect fit before our 30's. Of course, I am on the look out for my future husband, just like anyone else, but I am also enjoying being single. Since, I am an optimistic person, here is just a quick list about the benefits of being single.

Benefits of Being Single:
  • No late night phone calls - This means more time for my pillow and I to get better acquainted.
  • Saving money - You only need to pay for yourself when you go out for dinner!
  • No controversy - You can hangout with friends male or female whenever you want, no special permission needed.
  • You can focus on school - School is very important. If you are spending thousands of dollars for someone to teach you, you better listen up!
  • You can be spontaneous - Go on a fishing trip with your best buds or fly out to Florida for some personal beach time.
  • You can find yourself - While single you can find out who you really are. While you are single you can find out what your dreams and goals are.

Pep Talk:
As humans want to feel loved and needed by another person. We want to find Mr./Mrs. Right. God already knows who we are going to marry, when we are going to marry them and if the marriage will last. There is no reason for us to obsess about finding our mate when God already knows this. So my advice, enjoy being single. Enjoy the fact that you are not tied down and you can have as much fun as you want, whenever you want. God's timing is perfect, and when he thinks you are ready, he will provide you with someone you can't live without.

Jeremiah 29:11a - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord

A Mother's Day Gift Adventure

I went on an excursion with my best friend Stacy! We were on the look out for special gifts for our momma's! We decided that Meijer was our best bet, besides it was really close.

We knew we needed to get something for our mother's, but what? We decided to look at some art! Mom's like art right? Stacy wanted to get her mom this...

but decided this would be better.

I thought my mom would like this...

I mean who wouldn't want a free trip to Paris?
Then we looked at each other and thought flowers would probably be better.

We both found yellow flowers that our mom's love.
Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful Mom's out there! We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you!
(P.S - I love you Mom!)

Daddy-Daughter Date (A Learning Experience)

I spent the day with my dad, driving to Flint to pick up a package. We took my brother's car which is a manual. Just as we left he told me to grab my stuff, because I was going to learn how to drive this beast!

He has wanted me to learn how to drive a stick shift for quite sometime, and this is not my first time in the driver's seat of this little car. If I remember correctly, last time I tried this, we went about 10 feet in about 20 tries. We didn't even make it down the driveway, but today was a new day! I was determined that I was going to do it! First, I had to master those pedals.

It is kind of like Irish dancing only sitting down. Finally, after going around and around and around and around, in a high school parking lot in Durand, I finally got to drive on an actual road!

Look out world, we are on the road!
We went through podunk little towns with very few cars on the road. There were so many stoplights and stop signs. I do not like STOPPING! I did manage to stall the car in an intersection with on coming traffic only once! Thank goodness for hazard lights. To continue with the lesson we drove

 and drove
 and drove
and drove until we found an expressway! (Yes! Freedom from stop signs and stoplights!)
We found a Tim Horton's and decided it was time for coffee. (He really knows the way to my heart.)

We drove about 45 miles, granted 20 of those miles were from doing circles in Durand, but it was the perfect way to spend an unforgettable day with my dad.

Miss Clumsy

Every girl I meet lately is very poised. I mean the way they walk and talk is just so perfect. Whether they are walking in heels or flats, talking in English or Spanish. Everything they do is just perfect. I know the quote that says, "You are your worst critic." But seriously, how can one person be so clumsy? I thought I might make your day a little brighter with some stories about my passed experiences, trying to be poised.
It was a sunrise service, Easter morning, 7:00am. There was a light drizzle falling onto Brian and I as we are walking into church when all of a sudden, I got stuck! I couldn't move, my shoe had gotten stuck in a crack! Laughing, I pulled on that shoe to get it to come out of the crack, it took some real muscles to get that baby out. Brian only laughed at me, but he did wait until I got it out. What a nice brother.

Another Sunday, close to Christmas. The ground was covered with snow and Brian and I were walking into Meijer. Again, I was wearing heels but these were only 1 inch. So, we see the greeter and she welcomes us into Meijer. Within five seconds of saying, "Hi!" I slipped into a Tebow pose. Then I was stuck for about ten seconds, mostly because I was laughing hysterically. Brian of course was laughing at/with me. The Meijer greeter runs over to me and looks very concerned. She makes sure I am alright and Brian proceeds to help me up. (AWW!)
(What a good brother! {most of the time})
Choral ladies retreat, 2006. We were getting ready to go to Mrs. Spangler's church when I forgot my Bible downstairs. I quickly ran down the stairs and grabbed it. I was trying to be as fast as possible. I was running up the stair when BAM! I fell going up the stairs. Not only did I fall, but I ripped off a scab from a previous fall that week. Now there is blood everywhere and even on my skirt. Now, that takes talent!

Kalamazoo, a West Michigan Air Dogs Event (A dog jumping competition). I was helping my friend Liz secretary an event. It is important to mention that it was close to exams time. I had all of my Microbiology stuff in my backpack and I put on the back my chair so it wouldn't get wet from the dew on the ground. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my bag was to heavy for the chair, until I stood up to hand someone papers and went to sit back down I realized there was no seat there anymore. Needless to say, I made a graceful landing on the wet ground. Same event, next accident. It been raining all day and the dock was soaking wet. I went on the dock to hold someone's dog for him. After the dog did his thing, I walked down the ramp and I almost fell straight into the mud. If it was not for my friend Pat, I would have been covered in mud.
(Sky showing the people how it is done)
One month ago, I was sitting in my Epidemiology/Statistics class, we were doing a class activity when my paper flew off the desk. All of the chairs in this room are on wheels. I thought I would "wheel" over to the paper and pick it up, when my coat got stuck under one of the wheels and my chair flipped over. Of course, I was in the front row and the teacher announced it to the entire class. That was thoroughly embarrassing.

There is never a dull moment around me.

Respiratory Care

What is respiratory care? What to these people do? What kind of degree is it? Are you still pursuing nursing? Well, I am glad that you asked so many questions. I am going to give you a brief run down of what a Respiratory Therapist (RRT <-- Registered Respiratory Therapist) does.

1. What is respiratory care? It is a specialized healthcare practitioner who has graduated from a college or a university and passed a national board certifying examination. Respiratory therapists work under the general supervision of an intensive care physician or pulmonologist.
(Source from: Wikipedia)

2. What do these therapists do? We do a lot and work in many different areas. According to my professors we are one the first people to assess a patient. Looking for breathing problems, and we help to calm the patient down. We help the doctors with insertions of tubes and monitor breathing treatments. We can work on many different floors also. One day we might work on the pediatric floor the next day we might work on the geriatrics floor. It seems to me that everyday will be different, and will be quite interesting.

3. What kind of degree is it? I am going for the associates degree. I will be in this program until Fall 2014! Which means I would graduate this program in December of 2014! That is next year! That seems really close to me. (There is a light at the end of the tunnel!) I am only going for the associates because I want to jump into the nursing program as soon as possible.

4. Am I still pursuing nursing? OF COURSE! I have always wanted to be a nurse. I hope and pray that I will have two degrees by the time I am done here at Ferris.
If I you still have questions about this degree click on the link below.

An Explaination of Why Hugs are Important

I was talking to a friend the other day, about what you could not live without in life. We thought about music, movies, friends, restaurants, money, and presents. One thing I don't think I could live without is hugs. My insightful mother once told me, that a person needs to be touched at least 10 times a day, in order to stay healthy. (This was a long time ago. Maybe she was pulling my leg, but I still believe it today.) She explained that this kind of touch can be accidentally running into someone, a hug, a handshake, a high-five, a fist bump or anything that involves some kind of physical touch.

Generally, I am not a touchy, feely person, but when I get a hug from anyone, I get all warm and fuzzy inside. A feeling of I am loved. Now, don't think that I hug just anyone! I make sure these individuals are well qualified for a special Lisa hug. So next time you see me, don't be nervous to give me a hug. Now that you know what my favorite thing is, what is yours?
